Jadavpur University Alumni Association Hyderabad Chapter extends a warm and cordial welcome to all members, non members, and patrons

Activities, Events and Announcements

Activities carried out by the alumni association in the recent past are -

  • Student welfare activity with the formation of a welfare fund with voluntary donations from members.

  • Scholarship is given to several JU students selected from the panel prepared by the parent association in Jadavpur University.

  • Social welfare activities - giving help to underprivileged children of Sneha Ghar Aman Vedika in Hyderabad.

  • Lumpsum donation of Rs 30,000 to a school in Napitkhali area in Sundarban for the education of underprivileged and rural children

  • ‘Sakale Soumitra’, a unique program arranged at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad  involving the legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee and a host of drama and TV personalities.

  • Regular Popular Science Symposiums every year with participation of about 150 students from 20-25 schools across Hyderabad

  • A major cultural programme was held in April 2010 in Shilparamam. It included a Yugal dance performance by noted danceuse Anupama Kylash and Sanjay Kumar Joshi. The dance programme was followed by songs and dances by Baul artists from Bengal.

  • Bandish Fusion in Rabindra Bharati on January 8, 2011, participated by Pt. ViswaMohan Bhat and Raghav Chatterjee

  • A major cultural programme in Rabindra Bharati on August 25 and 26, Katha o Kahini, celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

14th December 2013 Annual Cultural Programme - Sacred Drums of India
  • The illustrious group of `Sacred Drums of India` comprise a galaxy of seasoned artists such as Pt. Rakesh Chaurasia on the flute, Pt. Subhankar Banerjee on the tabla, Pt. Suresh Vaidyanathan on the ghatam, Satish K Patri on the mridangam and Gopal Barman on the sreekhol.
27th July 2013 Science Symposium
  • Presentation by eminent speakers, quiz
2nd June 2013 AGM cum lunch
  • About 20 Jadavs and their families turned up. There was a contributory lunch and AGM at RCI
  • Agenda included Science Symposium, Welfare activities and proposed cultural programme

20th January 2013 Annual Picnic and Get Toegether at Shilparamam
  • About 128 Jadavs and their families turned up. There was a contributory lunch, AGM and a quiz on Swami Vivekananda 150
  • Spent two fun filled days on the bank of Krishna. Went out to Suryalanka beachaand had a blast of time

29th-30th December, 2012 Trip to Bhavani island near Vijaywada
  • By a team of about 42 Jadavs and their family members
  • Spent two fun filled days on the bank of Krishna. Went out to Suryalanka beachaand had a blast of time

25th & 26th August, 2012 Hinsdustani classical, Rabindrasangeet fusion, Setar and Tabla, Recitation and Drama
  • Pt. Sugato Nag (Sitar), Pt. Shubhankar Banerjee (Tabla) and  Sri Sounak Chattopadhyay (Vocal)
  • Legendary actor, Dada Saheb Phalke recipient and Padmabhushan Sri Soumitra Chattopadhyay was the star attraction on Sunday, 26th August ‘12 and there was also a cine-play of Tagore’s  “Noshtonir” – a Jojok production by Sri Gautam Halder, starring Dulal Lahiri, Ritabhari & Subhrajeet
