Carnival Day

Mohona Chowdhury

Sparkle of the shining sun,
Smell of yeast and tasty bun,
Children with kites on run,
It’s carnival today.

Men adjusting their coats and ties,
Women’s spoilt hairdo cries,
Everywhere cheer flies,
It’s carnival today.

Fun and frolic everywhere,
No more teardrops in despair,
Discarding every dress with a tear,
Because its carnival today.

Balloons of size: heart, square and oval,
Peddler’s cries far away travel,
Fun and frolic without interval.
Because its carnival today.
